Through the acquisition of Industrial Development Bangor in June 2011, the business acquired further expertise in simultaneous interpretation, electrostatic instruments and precision engineering. Industrial Development Bangor (IDB) was founded in January 1978 by Bangor University in order to improve the bridge between academia and industry.

IDB Systems achieved the Quality Management ISO certification; ISO 9001:2008
December 2013
Until December 2013, Bangor University held a 10% interest in the company but further to the appointment of James Armitage as Technical Director in February 2014, the ownership of this interest was transferred and the company became 100% privately owned.
January 2014
Moved from offices within Bangor University to industrial premises comprising 4500 square feet of offices and workshop space located in Llandudno North Wales.
July 2016
IDB Systems invested in surface mount assembly and re-work equipment to automate the circuit board assembly processes. With further investment in a range of CNC milling and turning equipment, the company significantly improved its machining capabilities.
June 2017
IDB Systems were awarded a Quality Assurance Notification to permit the manufacture of ATEX certified Hazardous Area Personnel Test Meters (HAPTM) suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres

IDB Systems successfully migrated to the Quality Management ISO certification; ISO 9001:2015
